THE SPINNING DIVAS had a great bike tour of the Finger Lakes ~ Cayuga & Skaneateles.
We met Sunday afternoon scattered about the Commons of Ithaca and enjoyed a wonderful lunch at Simeon's. From there we convened in front of the city garage and took off north to Aurora. It was amazing how John, our trusty driver, packed all of our luggage into his van! The ride was beautiful as we hovered the east side of Cayuga Lake and eventually into the country roads and back to the lake road leading into the cozy village of Aurora. We checked into the Aurora Inn and the EB Morgan House, the private home affiliated with the Inn. In one word, spectacular! This house was truly magical. Overlooking the lake, and every inch of the house decorated with the utmost of taste, we enjoyed every moment there. After showers we had a wonderful Happy Hour out on the back porch with the sun setting on the lake followed by a hearty country barbecue dinner.
Monday morning after a lovely breakfast on the back porch of the Aurora Inn we took off for Skaneateles. Naturally though we stopped at MacKenzie Childs just up the road. We arrived in the adorable town of Skaneateles with time to enjoy all it has to offer: great restaurants and shops and the wonderful historic Sherwood Inn. Some enjoyed the Mirbeau Spa for some well-deserved massages. That evening we tried to find room in the bar for a quick drink before heading up to Rosalie's. We enjoyed a family style meal of Italian culinary expertise in a private dining room all at one large table.
Tuesday morning John arrived pronto with our U Haul and packed up our luggage and bicycles. Fitzgerald Limo came and picked up all the women and we were off! Across 5/20 we were dropped at the top of Cayuga Lake and took off! Beautiful views of the lake intertwined with many wineries and gorgeous farms surrounded us. A few fun stops along the way included the Amish Market and the best hamburgers around at the Glenwood Pines. We finally all arrived in Ithaca to the lovely William Henry Miller Inn in downtown Ithaca. From there up to Rulloff's, a favorite watering hole of the several of us that went to Cornell. And then onto Maxie's Supper Club where we had another wonderful meal and some great live music at the bar where John made several of us "napkin hats".
The following morning a delicious breakfast was served on the front porch of the Inn and then it was time to say good bye, only our achin' quads were happy to do so! It was a fabulous trip filled with great Inns, wonderful restaurants, tasty wines, spectacular scenery and amazing women.
